Today was Windermere Secondary School’s 50th Anniversary hosted by the Marketing 11 & 12 class and respectable teachers who have taught and currently teach at the school. Thank you past and present students, teachers, and staff for planning this entertainment-packed event.
A few things I’ve learned from today:
- Photo booths are a great addition to any event.
- Model Mayhem for aspiring models to create a profile and cake decoration classes are available at Michaels.
- Refreshments for guests should be mandatory; don’t leave them hungry!
- Time should be allotted for guests to mingle and meet new people. Event organizers should plan fun and simple activities that will encourage even the introverts, like myself, to participate in smaller group settings with people who don’t already know one another.
The Decade Rooms were a neat idea but I thought we were getting tours of each room, but no, we were getting tours of the school. Not much changed so it was basically a chance for friends to chat while a current student led us around in circles.
When I said entertainment-packed, I meant it. There was singing, dancing (somewhat inappropriate in my opinion), Lion Dance, a Native song I enjoyed listening to, and cake to boot though it didn’t taste very good. Recipes in the school cafeteria clearly need an update. Fresher ingredients, better machinery, or just more attention on the mixing and baking processes.
Someone mentioned a LipDub video but I never saw it. They never screened it as they said they would.
Oh, how could I forget the Windermere Song that used the score of Lion King’s The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Needless to say I pestered my friends (in a nice way of course) to sing me the original once the tune got jammed into my head, for a week from that day on. I almost downloaded it. Rather, YouTube streamed it just for fun.
Next up: my five and ten-year high-school reunion. Bushels of fun coming my way, hopefully.
